  • Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of this membrane which becomes swollen and reddened often making it more visible. Conjunctivitis can affect one (unilateral) or both (bilateral) eyes.

  • Several products are available for the prevention or postponement of oestrus (heat, seasons) in female dogs.

  • Corticosteroids are used to treat allergic conditions of the skin and respiratory system, inflammatory conditions of the bowel (colitis), and may be included in some cancer therapy protocols.

  • Cyclophosphamide is a chemotherapeutic drug used to treat cancer in animals. These drugs can cause cancer in humans and should be handled with caution.

  • Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of allergy.

  • Delmadinone acetate is a progestogen that reduces the production of the hormone testosterone. The drug is used for certain behavioural problems such as some forms of aggression, nervousness, and hypersexuality (roaming and mounting) in male dogs.

  • Deltamethrin is an antiparasitic agent available as a collar for dogs. It is prescribed by your veterinarian for control of ticks and sand flies on dogs.

  • Diabetes mellitus (DM or sugar diabetes) is often a disease of overweight, middle aged animals. The classical signs are weight loss, increased appetite, increased thirst and increased urination.

  • Diabetes mellitus refers to a medical condition where there is an excessive quantity of sugar (glucose) in the blood. This is caused by a relative or absolute deficiency of the hormone insulin, which is secreted by the pancreas.

  • Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety, as a hypnotic agent, as an appetite stimulant and to control seizures (fits). Diazepam is a benzodiazepine.
